James Colquhoun and Laurentine ten Bosch are nutritionists turned filmmakers. As the creators, directors and producers of the feature film ‘Food Matters’, James and Laurentine’s intention is to reiterate the ancient wisdom of Hippocrates, “let thy food be thy medicine”.
Discouraged by the terrible side effects that pharmaceutical drugs were having on their families health, they set off on a path of discovery in to what other alternatives might exist. After studying Nutrition through the Global College of Natural Medicine in California, they realized that the health challenges within their own families were in fact a very real representation of what was happening the world over.
They discovered that with nutritionally-depleted foods, chemical additives and a tendency to rely upon pharmaceutical drugs, it’s no wonder that modern society is getting sicker. Then add on the high demands made upon our already overburdened health care system and it’s little wonder that doctors and health care practitioners have less and less time to teach people about how to eat and live well. The very information that could prevent people from being there in the first place.
In what promises to be the most contentious idea put forward, the filmmakers have interviewed several world leaders in nutrition and natural healing who claim that not only are we harming our bodies with improper nutrition, but that the right kind of foods, supplements and detoxification can be used to treat chronic illnesses as fatal as terminally diagnosed cancer.
With access to solid information people invariably make better choices for their health and this is exactly what James and Laurentine have done. The ‘Food Matters’ duo have independently funded the film from start to finish in order to remain as unbiased as possible, delivering a clear, concise and hard hitting message to the world.
